Local stars celebrate World Oral Health Day

by Bridgette Matjuda

Your favourite celebs took to social media to celebrate World Oral Health Day in their own special way. Here’s what they had to say:

Amanda Du Pont

Couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate World Oral Health Day? I’m joining Mentadent P and @drsmilelexleo in this initiative that serves to educate millions of children around SA and give them toothbrushes and toothpastes in an attempt to help improve the low standard of oral health and worldwide spread of tooth decay that causes so many problems for children and their families. Please join us in this movement, every selfie you post with the #everysmilematters #brushbrush Mentadent will donate a toothbrush and toothpaste to a child in need?? Let’s make a difference ✊?? @brightfutureza

HAPPY WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY! I am so proud to be a part of this initiative with Mentadent P and @drsmilelexleo on their epic battle to beat tooth decay! ?? Remarkably, tooth decay is the world’s most widespread disease affecting almost 1 in 2 people and over 60% of children worldwide suffer unnecessarily, which can lead to missed school and poorer performance. Join us to raise awareness on the importance of oral hygiene and unite against tooth decay by simply posting a selfie of you smiling, using the hashtags #BRUSHBRUSH #EverySmileMatters and we’ll donate a Mentadent toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste to a child in need on each person’s behalf. Get posting!!! ????? #WorldOralHealthDay

So on World Oral Health Day @drsmilelexleo extracted a wisdom tooth using only his fingers (I swear on my life) filled the tooth next to it and tried to grind the smoke off my other teeth cause #everysmilematters

Today is World Oral Health Day and I’m on a mission with MENTADENT P and Dr Smile to make every smile matter. With over 60% of our children in our country suffering from tooth decay (percentages which are far higher in rural areas), there’s something we can all do. All you need to do is take a selfie of you smiling and use the two hashtags ‘#EverySmileMatters’ and ‘#BrushBrush’, and MENTADENT P will commit to giving a toothbrush and toothpaste to a child in need for each post. We’re doing it anyway but the more we can get it out there, the better. The value of a Smile is priceless. @brightfutureza ??? #EverySmileMatters #BrushBrush #ForTheKids

????‍⚕️? Today is World Oral Health Day and because it is such a special time, myself together with Mentadent P and a few of my good friends are doing something very special for South Africa. The #EVERYSMILEMATTERS campaign focuses on fighting tooth decay, which by the way is the MOST widespread disease in the world! Tooth decay is a major contributing factor to why so many people suffer, why our dear children miss out on school, or parents on work. We all know how painful tooth ache can be, whether in an adult or child, and it is obvious that tooth decay is a serious problem,l. Not knowing the basics of how to properly look after our mouths, or even having the toothbrush and toothpaste to do it is a very real thing in our country and something we, together with your help, are going to change. So this is how you all can help. A smiling pic of you with the hashtags #EVERYSMILEMATTERS and #BRUSHBRUSH posted on any of your social media pages will provide a much needed toothbrush and toothpaste set to a child in South Africa. Simple. Smile, post a pic, make a change. Tag me as well, I have a special something for some of my favourite pics. Much love #DRSMILE #EVERYSMILEMATTERS #BRUSHBRUSH #DSCDSA #MENTADENTP #DENTIST #BAHAI #SOUTHAFRICA
