Getting to know the flamboyant Lip Sync Battle Africa co-host, Denrele

by Bongiwe Tshiqi

Adenrele Oluwafemi Edun, popularly known as Denrele, is Pearl Thusi’s new vibrant co-host on Lip Sync Battle Africa.

Denrele is bringing the show alive with his witty sense of humor and punch lines.  He gives us a glimpse of who he is through an insightful chat.

1. My career in the television industry began when I was 11 years old. I was a cheeky and vibrant presenter on a kiddies’ show. I always added my own punch lines to the script. At school, I was a theatre actor and also did a bit of modelling and dancing. I was the shortest male model, so I quickly had to learn to walk in heels.

2. Working as a Channel O presenter propelled my career to new heights. My fan base increased and I became a highly acclaimed presenter, making a mark in the entertainment industry. The industry was thirsty for my animated presenting style and I decided to take ownership of my brand.

3. I’m glad that I stayed true to myself, despite the constant teasing that I received. Growing up in a conservative place like Nigeria, I was often ridiculed for my eccentric outfits. People even booed me and looked at me as if I was crazy. I’m glad people have now embraced me, and I didn’t have to pretend to be someone else. I’m getting hired because people love me for who I am.

#LsbAfrica | We aren’t 100% sure if you ready for season 2 so we’ll give you a few teasers ???

 4. I love the creative freedom that Lip Sync Battle Africa has given me.

I don’t hold back on this show and I hope South Africa is ready for all the fun that I’m bringing to the show. Things will never be the same again on on the show as I will be lighting up the stage.
