Getting to know Bizizi

by Bridgette Matjuda
Bizizi

Musician Buhle Zizi, popularly known as Bizizi, chats to us about being the new girl in the gqom block. By Fundiswa Nkwanyana

As a child, I enjoyed dancing to kwaito music. My friends and family would play kwaito songs just to watch me dance. I loved hearing them cheer me on. When gqom became popular, I was fascinated because it’s dance music at its best. Over the years, my love for dancing has evolved. After completing my studies this year, I decided to focus on pursuing music.

My career kicked off when I met DJ Cleo. He was looking for a female musician and when I showcased my vocals, he was impressed. I was happy when he chose to work with me, so I grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He features me in several of his gqom songs. I also appreciate that he guides me as a new artist in the industry. My favourite song is Thuso Phala, and I’m glad that people are responding well to it.

I love recording music that I can dance to, and that makes people dance. During the festive season we all need to have fun, dance and be happy. So, my music will do the trick.

I’m looking forward to growing as an artist. I’m eager to learn and create more music. I want to continue making people dance, even years from now. I also hope for an amazing career.
