The clothing line was launched under the brands Super Shabba and Princess Bokang.

The day has finally arrived!!! My husband and I have been working on this project for more than 2 years, we’ve faced challenged, we’ve had doors slammed in our faces and a million other reasons to give up, but we never did because we knew what legacy we want to leave behind and I really hope when our time is done on this earth we are remembered as two individuals that set out to inspire, give hope, make people believe in themselves and change the mindset of the African child forever!!! #SbkidsZALaunch #AfricanChildYourTimeIsNow #BlackChildYouCan #DearBeautifulBrownSkinnedChild

The launch was held at Clearwater Mall in Johannesburg. Children between the ages of 2 and 10 modelled the adorable clothes to a warm applause and encouraging crowd. What makes the range refreshingly different is the iconography on the clothing. It features local stars as well as Super Shabba and Princess Bokang.

Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala: Mane crush alert!

A FAIRYTALE MADE IN MZANZI!!! Girl child: Let me tell you a beautiful story…Once upon a time, there was an African princess who lived in a village called Ga-Mphahlele. She was a beautiful brown-skinned girl. She was very different from the princesses I have seen on TV or read about in books. Boy child: How is she different? Girl Child: She became a princess, but she wasn’t from a royal family and she didn’t need a prince to be a princess. Boy child: Without a prince? Can that be possible? Girl Child: Yes, without a prince she was Miss I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T and she became the princess of the whole South Africa. Boy Child: Well, I also know an African superhero…and all he ever dreamt of since he was a little boy was to play soccer. He was from a township called Soweto, and although he didn’t have much, he never gave up on his dreams. Girl Child: So did his dream come true? Boy Child: Oh yes, he saved his entire nation and scored the 1st goal in the biggest battle called the world cup. Girl Child: What’s his name? Boy Child: His name is Super Shabba. What is your Princess’ name? Girl Child: Her name is Princess Bokang. Yesterday we launched our kiddies clothing brands to inspire and give hope to the African child!!! #PrincessBokang #SuperShabba #SbKids

“Currently available on our shelves are heroes and princesses that look nothing like an African child. We created these brands because we want to show our children that they, too, can be heroes or princesses. They can embrace their Africanness and shine just as brightly as the heroes and princess in other fairy tales. We need to remind them that embracing who you are is beautiful, and that all shades of black are beautiful,” Bokang explains.

Our Launch yesterday!!! African child you can, you are capable and you are not defined by the colour of your skin…. Love yourself, believe in yourself and dream big #PrincessBokang #SuperShabba #SBkids
