I’ve always known I was going to sing, I was just waiting for the right time. It was a matter of being in the right place and it being the right time. My husband heard me singing while I was cooking one day and he didn’t waste any time getting me into studio. I trusted his opinion because he is a record exec and has been responsible for the careers of big artists.

My debut album Izikhali Zamantungwa is a representation of my music. It is inspired by life and love. It talks about the ups and downs of love and the ability for love to conquer all. I believe that there is no greater force in this world than love and that carries through my music.

As a new artist, the process of creating an album was magical. It was exciting for me to create material from the beginning to the end and to hear the final product. There were days when I struggled creatively but my producer Mjakes Thebe taught me the importance of taking a break whenever I hit a creative block. The break allows for one to relax and focus on other things until the next inspiration hits you unexpectedly.

It’s very difficult for me to choose my favourite song on the album because they’re all so special to me. If I had to though, it would be track 12 on the album which is called Grateful because I wrote it with the intention to heal people that are going through difficult times in their lives. I wrote it for people who always view the glass as half empty instead of half full.

I am looking forward to promoting my album this year. I am excited to tour and promote my album in the country, across the continent and internationally too. I want to make my mark in the industry in a huge way.
