Pomegranates: the story behind why they’re good for your skin

by Kwanele Mathebula
Pomegranates

This just in: the delectable and tasty fruit that we love to eat is good for your skin!

Now, we can’t really say we’re surprised that pomegranates are on the list given that there are plenty of skincare products which contain the juices of this wonder-fruit, but we’re definitely happy!

Although pomegranates aren’t always easy to find in stores, we’re probably all familiar with the fruit. They’re round in size and have a hard, shiny red-yellow skin – cut them open and you’ll see tasty seeds inside.

But we aren’t here to discuss its flavour. We’ve come to tell you exactly how beneficial they are for your skin.

They’re rich in Vitamin c

Healthy skin needs Vitamin C! Vitamin C is known to assist in treating uneven skin tone, rough skin texture, fine lines and even acne scars. It also has skin brightening properties for a natural glow.

Delay the signs of ageing

The fruit has rich antioxidant properties to keep your skin smooth and rejuvenated. The anti-ageing compounds found in this fruit help to stimulate keratinocyte cells and they keep wrinkles and sagging skin at bay.

Boosts the skin’s ability to protect itself from the sun

Believe it or not, pomegranates have sun protection compounds that can help to relieve sunburn and reduce the signs of sun damage. However, wearing a moisturiser with an SPF in it is essential to protect your face from harmful UV rays which can cause premature ageing and liver spots.

Gives your skin a smoother and firmer feel

Pomegranates promote collagen and elastin production in your skin. This improves your skin’s texture and firmness.

Effective in treating dry and irritated skin

Pomegranate oil is ideal for treating dry skin because it penetrates deeply into it without irritating it. Because it contains an omega 5 fatty acid, your skin will be hydrated and protected from any loss of moisture.

If you’re looking for an effective anti-ageing product that contains pomegranates, then try out the new POND’s Age Miracle Micellar Water. It will not only reduce the appearance of wrinkles on your skin, but it will enhance your skin’s natural glow. Say goodbye to saggy skin and say hello to youthful, ravishing skin.
