Get the Met Make-up Looks

by Keletso Modisakeng

The Met Gala, an annual ball, which formally kicks off New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s yearly Costume Institute exhibit, is the fashion and beauty event of the year. Our Beauty writer, Keletso Modisakeng, shows you how to get your favourite celeb’s look.

Beyonce-KnowelsBeyoncé paired her clean face with an oxblood red lipstick to the event. The warm and rich colour really stands out when paired with a natural face. Complete your look by simply applying eyeliner on the brim of your eye and mascara.

Rihanna-twoRihanna is known to explore and play with colour but decided to keep it simple. The cat eye is always fashionable, and to get Rihanna’s look, apply a kohl or liquid liner along your eyelashes and wing it out to the side of your eye. Finish the look by applying a natural colour blush and pastel lipstick.

Naomi-Campbell

Naomi Campbell shows us how to be a natural queen with a hint of metallic. She was seen wearing metallic eye shadow paired with mascara that gave volume to her lashes. Finish your Naomi look by applying a clear lip gloss and you are good to go.

Lala-Anthony

Lala Anthony reined in purple at the fundraiser. Rich in colour, purple is the ultimate colour in bold statement make-up. Keep your face clean so your purple lip is the focus point and does not clash with anything else on your face.

Joan-Smalls

Joan Smalls, a model and an ambassador for many, is known to set trends and was not shy to show us her ombré lip. Apply a nude or lighter shade of purple lipstick onto the inner rim of your lips before applying the darker shade onto the outside. Blend the two colours with your finger and complete your look by applying mascara and eyeliner. Follow my recent beauty tutorial for a full how-to.
