A clip of him has been circulating online, in which he shares his views on voting and explains why he chose not to participate in the recent elections, sparking widespread outrage on social media
Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi on why he didn’t vote
The doctor in political sociology appeared on the educational talk show on SABC 1, Daily Thetha, where he was asked whether he had voted in the 4 November elections. His answer shocked and disappointed viewers after he admitted that he did not vote.
“I couldn’t. I’m very unhappy with the conduct of Black people in the country. I don’t understand why we have accepted to be so atomised because we are not going to achieve anything,” he stated.
The politician highlighted the division that supposedly lies amongst Black people in society, showing his disdain for his perceived acceptance of this division by the Black community. He then referenced what was displayed on the ballot, deeming it a “political entrepreneurship,” tying it back to the true nature of democracy.
“The mission of democracy was not to divide us, and our issues, such as poverty, unemployment and inequalities, are not going to be resolved by this political entrepreneurship that was on display yesterday.”
He made his stance on the matter of voting very clear: he is simply not moved by the ‘continuous atomisation of Black people’ and is asking for organisation.

This sentiment shared by Ndlozi simply did not sit right with many people on the internet, especially after the low voter turnout in the recent election, with only 15.9 million actual voters out of more than 29 million registered. Many people commented, profoundly disappointed in Ndlozi, mainly as a former parliamentarian.
@vsejanea @JabulileKh85889 This is very irresponsible of him, and he should have some shame in going around preaching such on national tv like it’s something to be proud of.

Nigga left to go be a podcaster and now his bright idea was to go on a national platform intellectualising and justifying voter apathy during a time we’re trying to get more people to vote?? Awe😂👍🏾
