The City of Cape Town is gearing up for an exhilarating encounter as the Springboks take on the All Blacks this Saturday, 29 August 2026, at the sold-out DHL Stadium.

Rugby enthusiasts are set to create a vibrant atmosphere in what promises to be one of the most significant sporting events of the year, with a capacity crowd of 62,000 expected for the 17:10 kick-off.
City of Cape Town steps in
This clash of titans, part of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry, has sparked frenzied excitement among fans, prompting the city to implement a comprehensive Transport Management Plan to facilitate the influx of supporters.
Authorities, together with SA Rugby and the South African Police Service (SAPS), are focused on ensuring a safe and seamless experience for both residents and visitors.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, emphasised the importance of planning on match day.
“With a full house at the stadium and thousands of people expected in and around the CBD and Green Point, we anticipate significant congestion on our roads on match day. A lot of planning has gone into managing the movement of spectators and traffic,” Smith noted.
He urged fans to take advantage of available shuttle services and to arrive with ample time to spare.
In order to ease congestion and streamline transport, the MyCiTi shuttle service will operate from five locations—Civic Centre, Thibault Square, CTICC, UCT, and Bellville Velodrome—beginning at 11:30.
This service will utilise a dedicated, coned-off bus lane, allowing fans to skip traffic queues and reach the stadium with minimal hassle. The last return shuttle from the stadium is scheduled to depart at 22:30.

Parking plans
With parking around the stadium limited, the city has arranged sufficient parking in the CBD for those opting for the shuttle or planning to walk to Green Point.
Ticketed fans will have access to 475 free parking bays at the Civic Centre on a first-come, first-served basis from 11:00.
Other parking options include UCT’s Upper Campus, where fans can catch the shuttle from the UCT Shuttle North Stop at Madiba Circle, alongside several paid parking facilities across the CBD.
Moreover, patrons using e-hailing services are encouraged to utilise a dedicated e-hailing facility established at P14 on Green Point Main Road to help mitigate traffic disruptions.
