The outbreak reportedly began weeks into the journey, with the first passenger falling ill before later passing away. In the days that followed, two more deaths were confirmed, raising alarm among health authorities and prompting urgent containment measures. Several other passengers and crew members are believed to have shown symptoms consistent with Hantavirus, while at least one individual required emergency medical evacuation.

As the crisis escalated, the ship faced difficulties docking at multiple ports, with authorities wary of allowing potentially infected passengers to disembark.
The vessel was left stranded at sea for days, with passengers confined to their cabins under strict monitoring protocols. Limited movement and growing uncertainty only added to the distress onboard.
Hantavirus is a rare but serious illness typically transmitted through contact with infected rodent droppings, urine or saliva. Symptoms can range from fever and fatigue to severe respiratory complications in more serious cases.
While human-to-human transmission is considered uncommon, health officials are working to determine how the virus spread in this case.
The incident has drawn international concern, with health authorities closely monitoring the situation and investigating the source of the outbreak. For now, officials maintain that the risk to the wider public remains low, as the situation is contained to the ship.
