The Johannesburg High Court has granted R400 000 bail to alleged crime kingpin Katiso “KT” Molefe.

The 61-year-old was arrested in July in connection to the murder of late musician Oupa Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody.

He approached the high court after he was denied bail in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court in August.

As reported by The Citizen, Judge Brad Wanless found that the State’s opposition to the bail application was not based on objective evidence.

“Despite the serious nature of the alleged offences, there is no objective evidence before this court to show that should the appellant be granted bail, this would be in conflict with the provisions of the [Criminal Procedure] Act,” the judge said.

As reported by Sunday World, the controversial alleged criminal mastermind faces multiple charges, including murder and the illegal possession of firearms.

He has been ordered to report to Morningside Police Station three times a week.
