Cassper Nyovest’s Expensive Gift Goes Missing
South African rap star Cassper Nyovest has opened up about a frustrating and shocking experience with Uber Courier, the real-time delivery service within the Uber app. On Monday, 22 September, the “Mama I Made It” hitmaker took to Instagram to share how a driver allegedly stole a gift he was sending to a friend.
“This happens after they have stolen food so many times!!! Such rubbish,” Cassper wrote, expressing his anger and disappointment. He revealed that the driver, named Dymon, reported the package as returned even though the gift never reached its intended recipient.

The Costly Gesture That Went Wrong
Cassper stressed that the gift was not a trivial item but an expensive gesture meant to surprise his friend. The disappointment, he says, wasn’t just monetary, it spoiled the surprise and emotional impact he intended.
“Uber has become such complete rubbish! Yesterday I tried to send a gift to one of my friends through Uber Courier, and the driver decided to steal the gift and report that he returned it to me,” he explained. “It ruined my day and ruined the gesture for my friend because he was so excited!”
After the incident, Cassper declared that he would no longer use the courier service.
Fans and Social Media Speak Out
Cassper’s post quickly sparked reactions from fans and fellow users, many sharing similar frustrations with Uber services.
“So heartbroken💔💔💔💔,” wrote one fan.
“And I thought courier was safe 😢 Damn! Sorry Cass,” commented another.
Others took the opportunity to critique Uber more broadly. Nobantu Vilakazi wrote, “@uber has just become a scam everyday it’s something new 💔.”
Bassiek added, “@uber @ubereats @ubereats_za your drivers are always taking our food, or you guys don’t return money back into our account when we cancel trips. Y’all need to do better please ✋🏽 this is rubbish.”
A Growing Concern for Delivery Services
Cassper’s experience underscores a broader concern among South Africans who rely on app-based delivery services for convenience. While Uber Courier promises quick and reliable parcel delivery, incidents like these highlight potential risks for users sending valuable or sentimental items.
Delivery platforms are under increasing scrutiny, as social media amplifies individual complaints and pressures companies to improve accountability, driver vetting, and customer service processes.
Lessons for Users
For now, Cassper’s warning serves as a cautionary tale: double-check the reliability of any courier service when sending expensive or important items. Fans and followers are using this moment to share their own stories, with many agreeing that trust in app-based deliveries is becoming increasingly fragile.
Cassper Nyovest’s post not only reveals a personal frustration but also sparks a conversation about the state of digital delivery in South Africa, where convenience, unfortunately, sometimes comes with a risk.
