Gauteng School Mourns as Two Moodley Sisters Die in Tragic Car Accident

by Zaghrah Anthony

Tragedy Strikes: Two Sisters Lost, Third in Critical Condition

A close-knit Gauteng community is reeling after a devastating car accident claimed the lives of two sisters and left a third fighting for her life. Connor Moodley and Cassidy Moodley tragically died on Saturday, while their younger sister Storm remains in hospital in critical condition.

The three siblings were alumni of Roosevelt High School in Randburg, Johannesburg. In a heartfelt statement, the school expressed profound sorrow over the incident:

“It is with deep sadness that we share the heartbreaking news that three of our alumni sisters — Storm (class of 2017), Connor (class of 2018), and Cassidy (class of 2020) Moodley — were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident last night. We are devastated to learn that Connor and Cassidy have tragically passed away, while Storm is currently fighting for her life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Moodley family during this incredibly difficult time.”

A Community Remembers

Social media quickly became a space for grief and remembrance, with friends, teachers, and classmates flooding the sisters’ pages with heartfelt messages. Many described Connor and Cassidy as radiant, kind-hearted, and full of life, personalities that brought joy to everyone they met.

One teacher, Cristel Venter, shared a touching memory of Connor, highlighting the personal impact the young girl had on her life:

“These girls gave life. Connor, you will forever live in my heart with your coloring-in pages on my cupboard and your elastic band rubber ball that no one has been allowed to touch. You made teaching worthwhile. And you will forever be one of my heart kids. May your souls rest in peace.”

Holding Onto Hope for Storm

While the community mourns Connor and Cassidy, thoughts and prayers remain firmly with Storm Moodley. Hospital staff are doing all they can, and family, friends, and fellow alumni are holding onto hope for her recovery. Online, messages of encouragement continue to pour in, reflecting the depth of love and support surrounding the Moodley family.

Remembering the Moodleys

The Moodley sisters were more than students; they were bright, loving presences who left lasting impressions on everyone around them. Their tragic loss has resonated far beyond Roosevelt High School, reminding the community of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.

As the family and friends navigate this unimaginable grief, the outpouring of support underscores a shared hope, that Storm survives and that the memories of Connor and Cassidy continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew them.
