Rise Mzansi, GOOD Party and BOSA to join forces as one

In an interesting turn of events, Rise Mzansi, Build One SA (BOSA) and GOOD Party have unveiled plans to form a coalition and merge into one centralist party ahead of the 2026 local elections.

Speaking to IOL, the three parties, respectively led by Mmusi Maimane, Patricia de Lille and Songezo Zibi revealed that an announcement of a coalition was in the works, as they have been engaged in extensive talks to band together as one unified voice.

“Well, the talks have advanced into good terms and they will announce soon. They agreed to the same terms but ActionSA pulled out from the talks because they felt that they were a more solid party on their own,” a source tells the publication.

The news of the potential coalition comes at an interesting time, as South Africa prepares for the first elections after the African National Congress (ANC) failed to secure a majority vote in the General Elections, and dropped below 50% since coming into power in 1994.

For some, including smaller political parties, there is an identifiable shift that is happening in South Africa, where citizens might be looking for alternatives to an ANC-led government. This can can be seen by the newly elected government of national unity.

Some members of the public have expressed that this looming coalition does not come as a surprise, citing how all three parties share common interests. They have further highlighted how this could be due to the fact that they all started out with the Democratic Alliance.
