One of the country’s premium crossover brands has taken things to the next level, with the introduction of the brand new Omoda C5 X-Series range.
The car boasts several adjustments and improvements across the board, intended to ensure an overall effortless driving experience with greater practicality.
The company revealed that its main objective was to improve the overall aesthetics of the vehicle, which would enable it to look just as good as it performs. For this reason, they have decided to redesign the fascia to give it both a sportier as well as an upmarket look.
Meanwhile, the diamond matrix grille, which appears to be the most striking part of the vehicle, lives up to the initial idea by offering a more sophisticated styling.
“The lower elements of the bumper have also been revised for a cleaner and more modern look. Similarly, the headlights have been restyled, while the daytime running lamps have been sculpted for a more dynamic look. Overall, the C5 has been brought more in line with the C9, which was launched in South Africa in November 2024,” Omoda said in a statement.

Performance
From a performance perspective, the Omoda C5 X Series comes standard with a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) as well as a six-speed gearbox, which is paired with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, producing 115 kW and 230 N.m of torque.
This allows the vehicle to travel from 0-100km in a matter of 0.9 seconds. However, this does not mean that it compromises on safety.
“From the introduction of the smooth-shifting dual-clutch transmission to the adoption of multilink rear suspension, every improvement has been made with comfort and responsiveness in mind. What’s more, we’ve managed to offer these advancements at a more accessible price point, reinforcing our commitment to delivering exceptional value without compromise,” explained Hans Greyling, General Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa.
Meanwhile, all C5 models receive OMODA’s five-year/150,000 km warranty, as well as a five-year/70,000 km service plan, while the company stays committed to its industry-leading ten-year/one-million km engine warranty as part of the standard price.
