Presenters and producers of the KwaZulu-Natal-based radio station Ukhozi FM are concerned about their future, as their job security has not yet been determined.

According to the news and entertainment publication Daily Sun the staff of the renowned radio station have not yet been offered contract extensions even though the current 2025/2026 season has already started.

This has left some concerned as they remain unsure about whether they will even have a job at the end of this year.

In a recent interview with the above-mentioned publication, an anonymous source added that both producers and workers have been made promises by management, but nothing has materialised yet.

“Some producers and presenters are working because they love their jobs, but they are worried about not signing contracts as they normally do at the start of the new season. No one knows how much they will get paid at the end of the month,” the source further revealed.

Meanwhile, the MK party has since intervened in the matter, with Mlungisi Zondi, the national coordinator of the party’s labour desk, demanding clarity on the matter.

He further emphasised that those affected have been triggered with anxiety over the uncertainty and requested that the matter be expedited.

Meanwhile, SABC head of communications Mmoni Ngubane has responded to the accusations made by the staff, highlighting that the station has no outstanding contracts since all contracts have been issued to the on-air talent and that they have been signed.
