After just a year of occupying her role, Durban-based radio station Ukhozi FM will have to do without the services of Pearl Maseko.

In an interview with Daily Sun the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Manager, Mmoni Seapolelo confirmed that the former programmes manager, Pearl Maseko has decided to hand in an official resignation.

“The SABC can confirm Pearl Maseko-Binqose has tendered her resignation from Ukhozi FM,” Mmoni revealed.

“The SABC wishes to thank Ms Maseko-Binqose for her contribution to the organisation and wishes her well in her future endeavours.”

Despite the brief response, another unknown source told the publication  that the reason for her resignation was because of a new opportunity that arose that was related to working with government at national level.

“She will be working for one of the departments as she is a qualified communicator and manager.”

The source further told the Daily Sun, “At the moment, she doesn’t want people to know where she’s going until she’s officially announced by her new employer.”

Pearl joined the radio station in March of 2023 after Ukhozi was struggling to get someone for the role for nearly two years. Prior to this she worked as a content producer at Gagasi and producer at Ukhozi FM and also has experience working as a lecturer at the University of Fort Hare.

In February this year her and her husband tied the knot in a beautiful traditional ceremony, before giving birth to their new-born daughter a few months later.

Taking to Instagram she shared a post introducing her little one to the world.
