When it comes to award-winning television and radio broadcaster Masechaba Ndlovu, speaking live on air is not the only time she lends her talented voice.

For those who may be unaware, Masechaba has also been the voice behind quite a few documentaries, radio and television advertisements, as well as corporate videos for an array of industries which include the fields of mining, hospitality, and banking.

The mom of three took to Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes moments from her work as a voice-over artist as well as give a few words of wisdom.

“I work from different studios with different teams and no two days are the same,” read a portion of Masechaba’s caption. “Out of all my vocations, voice-over work is definitely one of my favourite!”

Providing a brief guide to voice-over work, the radio presenter shared, “Bringing a script to life not only requires a compatible voice, but sterling comprehension and listening skills as well. First, you need to understand the brief and then be able to take direction (and accept constructive criticism!).”

Stressing the importance of being proficient in the language that one specialises in, Masechaba further added that it is the act of capturing the client’s vision that she finds extremely satisfying.

“Be prepared, be patient, and be professional, ALWAYS. Remember one thing, it’s not only about how good you are, it’s about how good you are to work with!” she concluded.
