Thabiso Mokhethi gives his view on ancestors

It is common knowledge that South Africa is a country that prides itself on being rich in culture and diversity. 

The country is home to various African tribes, cultures, customs, and religions and while everyone can co-exist and celebrate their differences, there are occasional moments of disagreement. 

This was recently the case as netizens recently found themselves unimpressed by comments made by former Generations actor Thabiso Mokhethi. The 40-year-old retired sangoma recently made an appearance on a podcast called Street Talk with Nomstar where he gave his opinion on cultural Ancestral worship. 

During the conversation, he shared that the supernatural beings that most African cultures call out to are not their ancestors. Instead, he reveals that they are familiar spirits sent by the devil to monitor people’s lifestyles. 

Thabiso who is now a devoted Christian who turned his life around after several years of heartache, and drug abuse stated: 

“They know who you are, they know what you want, and they know what you need because the devil has monitors. They are also called monitoring spirits, and those are the same spirits that when you move away from God like me, can manifest in sickness, accidents, and differing things.” 

He highlighted that these spirits prey on people’s downfall and operate in other human beings which causes them to drift away from God. 

Meanwhile, his comments were not well received by social media.
