The music career of iFani has been a messy one. Once the most talked about rapper, iFani disappeared from the music scene and moved back to Port Elizabeth.

The artist tried to make a comeback in the music scene, but that reportedly didn’t go too well. According to ZiMoja, iFani, real name Mzayifani Mzondeleli Boltina, says his former record company Universal Music has blocked him from receiving money for his song Milli.

“Dear Universal Music Group,” he pens down. “Why block my Milli? Milli was licensed to @SonyMusicAfrica for five years. The masters have always been mine. So, why block my YouTube money? I don’t understand,” he states.

The song Milli was uploaded nearly 10 years ago and yet, iFani still has no access to the money made from the song.

iFani also opened up about his struggles with depression and suicide. The artist states that the only time he would feel alive was on stage. “I was feeding off the audience’s energy. But as I left the stage, I was back to my misery,” he shared. He claims that his music was the only thing keeping him going during his deep months-long depression. He further added that a car accident he was involved in along with the death of his grandmother in 2010 nearly drove him to suicide.

He was also hijacked at gunpoint, and in 2014, goods worth more than R200 000 were stolen from his residence. But he didn’t let these disappointments and hardships force him to relive that dark and miserable period of his life.
