How to keep the kids entertained during the Easter holidays

by Ncumisa Lerato Kunana
happy family of four

Schools are closed and Easter holidays have arrived.

Children are also out of school, so your siblings will bring their young mischief-makers over, and you’ll need money to keep them entertained. Although you don’t have enough money to buy them the vacation you’ve been wanting, you still need to keep them off the streets and out of trouble.

You don’t need to spend a fortune.

Home picnic

You can use anything from your home, including food and décor, so the expense will be minimal. All you need to do is choose the theme for your picnic if, like me, you adore balloons and have them about the house at all times. Nothing makes my little ones (The Gang) more happy than hearing, “Today is a free day.” They may consume as much food and liquids as they like on this day. This includes their favourite part, which includes dancing, singing, and playing loud music.

Outings

If you have some extra cash, you might think about bringing the kids out to take advantage of the last sunny days. Hiking, quad biking, beach day. In whatever province you’re in, there should be affordable water parks and game shops.

Take up painting as a family

Painting is a great alternative to simply drawing or sketching. It can be quite relieving as an activity as long as you do it properly.

If you have an old fence or a shed in the garden, why don’t you let your children get creative? Let the kids paint in the colours they love while drawing their favourite cartoon heroes or simply something they love. This will be a core childhood memory and maybe one of the kids may take great interest in it and pursue it.

Take it easy

Last but not least, remember that the holiday is a chance to unwind. Avoid overloading your kids’ schedules with activities or making it overly rigid. Simply spend a few days drawing, reading, playing games, or watching movies and eating popcorn.
