What is lunch time without hot potato chips, bread or some yummy pasta?

As much as they’re delicious and easy to grab on the go, carb loading is considered unproductive and can affect your concentration. If you still want to get on with your day after lunch time whether that is with work or on a creative project, be aware on what you eat for lunch.

According to Nutrition.org, “Having too much carbohydrates in the body can deplete productivity. Carbohydrate-rich foods cause the body to produce too much insulin, flooding the brain with hormones that make you feel tired (like serotonin and tryptophan).” Therefore, it is advised to always count how many carbs you’re loading your body.

As much as your body needs carbs, you need to take simple carbohydrates that can be absorbed by your body and be converted into quick energy. For example, whole grains, fruit juices and fiber are complex carbohydrates that are longer lasting and can produce energy at a slower rate. “It’s this consistency from the lab showing excessive saturated fats and carbohydrates cause excessive daytime sleepiness and could be a risk factor with workplace injury,” – Says Yohannes Melaku a researcher from Flinders University.

Talk to your local doctor or dietician about a healthy diet that can help you be at your optimum best, not every diet is good for everyone, illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes and heart diseases often mean that people will have to adopt special diets.

It is recommended by Healthline that sticking to normal eating habits but being cautious of eating low carbs such as your avocados, lentils, chicken salads, sweet potato and hot chips will help you stay healthy and can maintain high energy.
