Make-up brushes don’t come with instruction manuals, even though they should. Unless you are a trained make-up artist or have watched hours of online tutorials, figuring out what to buy and how it’s used can be overwhelming.

Here is a detailed guide on basic make-up brushes you need to have, and what they are for:

1. Foundation Brush: Perfect for liquid foundation, it has a tapered edge to help reach all corners.

Tips on how to wash your brushes

Brushes pick up all the dirt and grime from your face. So, if you don’t wash them it means you are depositing that back onto your face. Baby shampoo or micellar water make great cleansers if you don’t have a proper soap for brushes.

  • Rinse under water.
  • Gently massage in the soap, and rinse again.
  • Squeeze the water out by gently pressing the bristles with your fingers.
