As we commence this new year, many of us are entering this year with the aspiration of starting new jobs and excelling in new work positions. While the pressures of job interviews can overwhelm people, it is quite important that people maintain their composure, speak clearly, and present themselves well.

In today’s world, where job opportunities are limited, it is crucial to make a good impression during a job interview. Although experiences and CVs play a significant role in securing a job, the final step always remains the face-to-face or online interview. In these interviews, prospective employers try to get an idea of who you are beyond your job experiences and achievements.

A digital content creator, who goes by the username @soambitiousdomm and is an expert in career, money, and investing advice, shares some of the most crucial things to say during a job interview.

Introducing the video, Dominic says, “When you are in an interview, it is so important you let the person who is interviewing you feel like if they chose you as the candidate to work for their company within their function, you will be able to deliver everything on that job spec and more. You need to make them feel as if you can do that job and that they can visualize you in that position.”

To achieve the above-mentioned goal, he further advises that this is what should be done:

  1. Use ‘for example’ to clarify your method, process, and outcome.: “When you are speaking, always use the word example. So when you are speaking about your experience, you always say: for example, I am this and I have worked on this, and it led to me and my team achieving this goal.”
  2. Make sure to highlight the experience gained while working towards specific objectives.
  3. Mention initiative: “People like to know that you’re an employer that goes over and beyond. So by going over and beyond and using your initiative, you need to talk about examples where you have used your initiative to help your company or team.”
