Papama Mtwisha to exhibit at the Sanlam HmC Fair 2018

Founder of Butter Pudding Papama Mtwisha chats to us about her career, and exhibiting at the 2018 Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair. By Fundiswa Nkwanyana

I love being a creative entrepreneur operating in the fashion space.  After being a fashion director for multiple renowned magazines as well as a stylist for local celebrities, I decided to establish my own brand. Three years ago, I founded Butter Pudding, a kiddies’ lifestyle brand. I believe that I was born to do what I do because I enjoy it. Producing proudly African products of superb standard is important in changing the narrative about our continent.

The empowerment of others is high on my priority list. My entrepreneurship venture is about making people and kids look and feel good, which is a form of empowerment. I also create employment because every product that we sell is locally produced. If we keep our currency circulating in Africa, this will have a positive effect.

Putting the perfect team together is challenging. So, I do most of the tasks myself, which is time-consuming. But, I know that it’s only a matter of time until I am able to afford the right team members who will share my vision.

I’m excited about exhibiting at the 2018 Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair. This will be my third year at the fair, and I always look forward to it. I love that the country’s top designers and chefs set up shop to sell and share their products. Taking part in it has a positive impact for my brand, and not only financially; it exposes my products to new customers. It is the only local fair I participate in, and I can’t wait for it to start.

This shopping and social experience will take place from 12 to 14 October at Hyde Park Corner shopping centre’s rooftop. Tickets available at Webtickets.
