How to save money on back to school shopping

by Silindokuhle Booi

Getting ready for back to school can be very costly but there are ways to save money on school supplies and clothes.

Here are some of the strategies you can use to save suggested by Ramsey Solutions and Frugal Rules:

Look for coupons and discounts: According to Ramsey Solutions – an online resource that is committed to helping people regain control of their money, build wealth, grow their leadership skills, and enhance their lives through personal development – checking for store coupons and online coupon codes before you go for shopping can help you save.

Shop end-of-season sales: The above-mentioned sources says that the right time to shop for school supplies is at the beginning of the summer holiday as many stores have huge discounts.

Buy secondhand: Thrift stores and consignment shops can be a great source for clothing and other items, added the Frugal Rules, an online financial website with the goal of teaching people how to make smart money decisions to help them create a life of financial freedom.

Make a budget: In all the shopping that one is going to do they need to have a plan on how they will spend the money. Frugal Rules adds that you should set a budget for yourself and stick to it.

With a little planning and some careful budgeting, you can get all the things that your kids may need for going back to school. Frugal Rules also adds that it is important to remember that it is not about how much money you spend but about finding ways to make your money go further.
