Who is Sean McCollet?

Sean McCollet is a passionate and driven young man who was born in Johannesburg, but grew up in Cape Town.

What do you do?

I’m a publicity and celebrity manager. However, I do many other things, so I guess you can say I’m a media entrepreneur. if there’s such a thing. (laughs)

What does your job entail?

On a day to day basis, I have to see what content my artists are producing that is newsworthy. Also, I have to ensure that I endorse the brand that my clients wants me to push.

What did you study to be a publicist and celebrity manager?

I studied Business Administration at CTI. However, normally one would have to study PR or media to do what I do.

Who are your clients?

Quite a few, but I’m currently busy with SABC 1’s Future Leaders, actors and TV presenters Lehasa Moloi and Khanya Mkangisa.

What is it that you love the most about your industry?

Every day is a challenge and I love challenges. I don’t like to settle, otherwise I get bored. I also love the fact that you get exposed to so many fun and educational things.

What’s the one thing you hate about your industry?

Hate is a strong word, but there are definitely a few things I’d change about it, and that’s a story for another day *winks*.

Goals for your company?

More clients. I would love for it to get to a point where we are consulting from every point – celebrity management, casting agency, TV production, PR, e.t.c. That’s the dream *smiles*.

What’s the one thing people may be shocked to know about you?

There’re quite a few that I don’t want to mention here, but maybe the fact that I recently walked for Amen Fashion Couture’s show. That was fun for me, to be a model for an evening..Hehehe.

What has been your favourite moment in your career thus far?

I’ve been blessed so much that I can’t single out one. However, this year when Future Leaders Season 2 aired, it was really quite a moment for me. And when Khanya got the Rockville role and Lehasa became a Joop Homme ambassador, I was ecstatic.

Who inspires you and who do you look up to in the industry?

Quite a few people really; ambitious and driven people inspire me. My friends, my family, even my own artists, so I can’t mention their names because the list would be endless.

What exciting projects can we expect from McCollet Consulting?

I read somewhere that “don’t tell people your dreams, show them”, so I guess you’ll have to wait and see .

Any advice for someone who wants to break into the industry and do what you do?

Persevere and work hard. It’s a competitive industry and everyone is gunning for what you want so you’ve got to be on your toes at all times.
