5 Tips to adopt when working from home

Since COVID-19, many companies have opted for a more convenient way of working – coming into the office on certain days or working from home. When working from home, you may be distracted by the daily chores needed to be done or the TV that is begging you to watch it. If these are your struggles, here are some essential tips to consider.

Popular employment site Indeed provided a list of work-from-home tips for you to adopt. Check them out below.

Maintain regular working hours

Do not confuse your working hours with your personal time. To avoid this blunder, create a schedule and make sure you stick to it, as this will help you stay productive and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Take breaks

Just because you are working from home, it does not mean that you cannot take breaks. Take consistent breaks that allow your mind and body to refresh and get back to work with more energy. Align your breaks with your regular work breaks or have periods where you walk away from your work device.

Clean up

Working in a clean environment can boost productivity. This is why it is important to be proactive and clean your home office to ensure that you are organised, focused and productive.

Adopt a morning routine

This is a great strategy to help you start your day. “There are many things you could include in your routine, depending on what works for you. For example, you could decide to exercise, shower and make a cup of coffee to get you ready for a day of working from home,” notes the publication.

Set ground rules with those around you

Laying down rules with people you share your home working space with is crucial as it prevents distractions. For example, negotiate quiet times or meeting times with your kids or anyone else who is at home.
