Beyoncé pens a heartfelt tribute to Michelle Obama

Beyoncé has penned a phenomenal tribute to Michelle Obama for Time Magazine‘s 100 Most Influential People of 2019 issue. In it, the Grammy-winning musician praised the former first lady on her conduct, impact in and outside the white house and the hope she represented for young black girls.

Beyoncé, who sang the American national anthem at Barrack Obama’s inauguration reflected on meeting Michelle ahead of her performance. She said in part: “When I first met her, I was embraced by a warm, regal and confident woman who possessed a reassuring calm on the eve of President Obama’s historic first Inauguration.”

She continued to commend Michelle’s determination to share her story regardless of the criticism that she’s faced saying; “I’m honoured to know such a brilliant black woman who’s spoken about the sacrifice it takes to balance her passions while remaining a supportive partner and mother, and now a best-selling author with Becoming. She has continued to open herself up, even if it meant being criticized. She has continued to be a portrait of grace.”

In the tribute, Beyonce said in part; “I am so grateful that my daughters and my son live in a world where Michelle Obama shines as a beacon of hope who inspires all of us to do better and to be better.”
