The Proteas Women have secured a place in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-finals, continuing their impressive run after finishing as runners-up in the last two editions. They sealed qualification after a tense victory over Bangladesh, with Australia’s win over India confirming South Africa’s place in the last four.

When are the semi-finals?
The semi-final match between England and South Africa is on Thursday, 2 July 2026, at The Oval in London, England. The other semi-final is between Australia and the West Indies. This is another big opportunity for South Africa. After reaching the finals in 2023 and 2024, they’ll be hoping to go one step further and lift their first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup trophy.
England will be a formidable opponent, having gone through the group stage unbeaten, but the Proteas have already shown they can handle high-pressure matches in this tournament. It would be a huge achievement if they could book a third consecutive World Cup final.

Although their previous match with Bangladesh was not an easy one, South Africa’s bowlers once again showed the foundation for victory. As Nonkululeko Mlaba was outstanding with figures of 2/22, Kapp delivered another masterclass, conceding just nine runs in her four overs while taking one wicket.
Useful contributions from Marizanne Kapp with 16 and De Klerk with 15 kept the Proteas on the right course before Chloe Tryon and Sinalo Jafta calmly guided the team over the line with four balls to spare.
Looking ahead to Thursday’s semi-final against England, the team believes they have every chance of reaching a third consecutive T20 World Cup final.
