World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the Barcelona Open after he had to undergo a test on his right wrist.
The No. 2 player in the ATP Rankings defeated qualifier Otto Virtanen 6-4, 6-2 on Tuesday, but decided to pull out of his scheduled second-round match against Tomas Machac.

Alcaraz reached the final of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters last week but fell in the championship match to world number 1 and eventual winner Jannik Sinner.
The withdrawal from the Barcelona Open means Alcaraz won’t be overtaking top-ranked Jannik Sinner and move back atop the ATP rankings.
The upcoming tournaments for Carlos are the Madrid Open and the Italian Open, just before he defends his French Open title in late May.
