Arsenal, who had hopes for a quadruple, were swatted aside. Yesterday’s match showed what the City side is capable of, as this points to a bright future with a growing and improving team.
Nico O’Reilly scored the two winning goals in five stunning second-half minutes to fire Manchester City to victory. Arsenal stand-in goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga gifted City their first goal when he fumbled Rayan Cherki’s cross on the hour mark, with O’Reilly on a hand to head close range, making it 1-0.
Manchester City quickly doubled their advantage four minutes after O’Reilly’s header, making it 2-0 and sending an excited Pep Guardiola dancing along the touchline.
The Arsenal team continued to push for a goal, but Manchester City successfully maintained their lead to secure the victory. This win marked the 19th trophy for Pep Guardiola in his remarkable ten-season tenure with the club.

Sunday’s victory will undoubtedly boost Manchester City’s hopes in the Premier League title race.
Arsenal’s failure to win the first trophy since the 2020 FA Cup was a painful blow, ending their bid to land an unprecedented quadruple.
Pep Guardiola, while speaking on his post-match interview, said, “I would like to have nine points in front of Arsenal. I said to the players: ‘Today, we are going to see what our level is’. They are the best so far, no doubt about that, so let’s prove ourselves, and in the second half, I could not believe we could do it against Arsenal. But this win will have no impact (on the title race). It is a different competition.”
