Banyana Banyana defender Bambanani Mbane has found herself at the centre of online debate after issuing a public apology for comments she made on social media during South Africa’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign.

SAFA responds to Bambanani Mbane’s controversial remarks

Recently, the South African Football Association (SAFA) released a statement distancing itself from the remarks. The association expressed concern over the incident, apologised to supporters and stakeholders, and confirmed that the matter would be reviewed internally.

SAFA also urged fans to remain focused on supporting Banyana Banyana ahead of their crucial WAFCON clash against Ivory Coast, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Bambanani Mbane issues public apology
