According to the campaign material, the apparent family conflict is being used as a playful way to explore the idea of sharing — particularly the familiar feeling of wanting to keep something good all to yourself.
According to My Pressportal, KFC Africa Chief Marketing Officer Hloni Mohope said the campaign taps into something recognisable in South African culture.
“We all know someone who can’t help themselves when something good appears,” Mohope said, adding that MaKhumalo’s position is “funny because it’s true.”

For fans of Uthando Nes’thembu, the advert offers a familiar cast of characters in an unexpected setting, combining the family’s recognisable dynamics with KFC’s playful advertising approach.
