The Springbok Women have made history, securing a place in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals for the very first time.

After a dominant win over Italy and a hard-fought clash against France, the team finished second in Pool D – setting up a high-stakes showdown with tournament giants, New Zealand, this Saturday in Exeter (2pm SA time).

Backed by partner OMO’s Stay Unbeatable philosophy, the Bok Women have shown that true victory goes beyond the scoreboard – it’s about resilience, unity, and the relentless belief that South Africa’s women’s rugby belongs on the world stage.

Inspirational lock forward Nomsa Mokwai reflected on the team’s journey: “There is a huge amount of support, and the team feels it deeply. So many people believe in us – not just management or family, but the whole country is behind us. Our unity and fighting spirit are how we say thank you and show that we appreciate that support. Beating teams like the Black Ferns shows that we are here to make a statement: we are here to stay.”

The team heads into Saturday’s quarter-final with confidence drawn from their historic 41-24 win over New Zealand’s Black Ferns XV at Cape Town’s Athlone Stadium in August. That victory, combined with lessons from their match against France, has prepared them for one of the biggest tests of their careers.

Scrumhalf Tayla Kinsey added: “Staying unbeatable is more than rugby. It’s about never giving up, staying true to who you are, and standing strong no matter how tough things get. For us, it’s about winning together as a team and doing it with joy and pride. We want to perform for our country and inspire the next generation.”

Launched earlier this year, OMO’s partnership with SA Rugby celebrates the grit and determination that define the Bok Women and everyday South Africans alike.

Mphothe Elizabeth Mokwena, Unilever Homecare Marketing Lead for Southern Africa, said: “OMO’s Stay Unbeatable philosophy celebrates perseverance in every form – from parents overcoming daily challenges to athletes breaking barriers on the world stage.

The Springbok Women have turned setbacks into stepping stones, and their place in the quarter-finals is a testament to resilience and belief. We are honoured to stand alongside them as they continue to make history.”

The upcoming clash in Exeter isn’t just another match – it’s a defining moment for women’s sport in South Africa. With a nation rallying behind them, the Springbok Women are proving that to Stay Unbeatable is to rise, no matter the challenge.

Ultimately, the Springbok Women’s journey to Exeter is more than rugby – it’s a story of perseverance, pride, and possibility. Even after a tough loss to France, the team embodies the spirit of ‘Playing On’.
