The Miami Open draw is finally out, and a second-round showdown between Carlos Alcaraz and Joao Fonseca is almost set.
That will only come to fruition if Fonseca defeats Fabian Marozsan in the opening match.

Alcaraz’s possible path to the final also includes Sebastian Korda in round three, Karen Khachanov in the last 16, Taylor Fritz in the quarters, and either Lorenzo Musetti, Alex de Minaur, Alexander Bublik, or Tommy Paul in the semis.

The world no.1 is coming off a semifinal showing in Indian Wells, where he fell to eventual runner-up Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev himself has a favourable draw in Miami, where he will avoid world no.2 Jannik Sinner at least until the semifinals and Alcaraz until the championship final match. Sinner defeated Medvedev 7-6(6), 7-6(4) in the Indian Wells final on Sunday.

The No. 1 seed Carlos is in pursuit of a second Miami title, and the #NextGenATP star Joao Fonseca will for sure not make it easy.
Alcaraz and Fonseca last played in December in an exhibition match at a baseball stadium in Miami. Now, they are set to play for the first time on the tour level for their first ATP Head2Head Series clash, that’s if Fonseca battles past Marozsan who beat him last year in Rome to set the blockbuster.

The Brazilian Fonseca just pushed Jannik Sinner to two tie-breaks in the fourth round at the Indian Wells Open. Now we wait and see if he’ll do the same to world no.1 Alcaraz.
