3 Ways to cook oats

Any of the three recipes will make the best, all you have to do is decide which one you want to make first.

 

1.Stewed Fruit Oats

Stewed-fruit-oat

 

Prep time: 10minutes

Cooking time: 45minutes

Serves: 3-4

  • 2 cups oats
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup apples, chopped
  • 1 cup strawberries, chopped
  • 1 cup banana, chopped
  • 1 cup blue berries
  • 2 cups plain yoghurt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Honey to serve
  1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C.
  2. In a bowl, mix dry ingredients and fruits. Place into light greased baking dish.
  3. In jug, whisk yoghurt and egg. Pour over oats mixture.
  4. Bake for 40-45 minutes.
  5. Serve warm.

 

2. Chocolate Oats

Chocolate-oat

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 40minutes

Serves: 3-4

  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 cup chocolate powder
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • 2 cup (500ml) hot milk
  • ½ cup margarine, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoon almond nuts, sliced and toasted
  1. In a saucepan, mix ingredients together. Bring to boil until liquid has been absorbed.
  2. Sprinkle with nuts and serve.

 

3. Seeds & Nuts Oats

Nuts&seed-oats

Prep time: 10minutes

Serves: 3-4

2 cups oats, cooked

½ cup pumpkin seeds

½ cup sunflower seeds

4 tablespoon cashew nuts

4 tablespoon walnuts, chopped

½ cup raisins

Marple syrup to serve

  1. Mix bowl, mix oats, seeds and nuts.
  2. Drizzle with syrup and serve.
