3 methods to remove waterproof mascara

by Kwanele Mathebula

Waterproof mascara is great for many reasons, the main one being that it won’t smudge or create dark circles under your eyes from a hint of tears. With that said, removing it can be a bit of a nightmare because of that main reason. Luckily, there are ways to get around that tiny issue and we’ve got them for you.

Here are a few easy methods to remove waterproof mascara quickly and easily:

1. Oil – olive or coconut oil

You will need oil and a cotton ball:

  • Wet your lashes with a splash of water
  • Put a few drops of the oil to your cotton ball and press it down gently on your lashes
  • Let the oil settle on your lids for 30 seconds
  • Wipe off your lashes with a wet wipe or cloth to remove the oil along with the mascara
  • Wash your face thoroughly with lukewarm water
  • Moisturise your face to prevent dryness

2. Make-up Remover

You will need make-up remover, paper towel, and a cotton ball:

  • Place the paper towel under your eye
  • Dip a bit of the cotton ball in the make-up remover and gently wipe off the mascara in a downward motion
  • Wipe down until the mascara has completely disappeared
  • Wash your face thoroughly with lukewarm water
  • Moisturise your face to prevent dryness
