Julius Malema slams Gary Player opinion on scrapping BEE

by Sergio Miller

Leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Julius Malema, has voiced his opinion on Gary Player’s suggestion to abolish BEE.

This past weekend, the renowned golfer celebrated his 90th birthday at the famous Sun City holiday resort. Attending the event were several prominent celebrities including Rugby World Cup winners Bryan Habana, Jean de Villiers and Steven Kitshoff.

As is the case with most birthday parties, nothing is complete until the birthday boy or girl has made their wish. When the moment arrived, the retired Gary shared his wishes.

Speaking to the media, he said:

“South Africa, we’ve got problems. Introducing a bill, no compensation. So, in other words, I brought back hundreds of millions of Rands to South Africa. I bought farms and property.

“They could come in and take it. That means they’re stealing it. So, we are discouraging people to invest. We have got to get rid of that law.”

“They weren’t listening, but they don’t listen. They’re not prepared to listen. And you’ve got to get rid of this BEE system.”

Gary believes that this is the reason people are not prepared to come and invest money in South Africa. He added that we need to adopt similar systems to the rest of the world and that this would encourage more people to invest.

Meanwhile, Julius seems to disagree with these statements.

Taking to his X (formerly known as Twitter) page, the politician shared his thoughts.
