General Mkhwanazi reveals motive behind DJ Sumbody’s murder

by Sergio Miller

Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has recently made shocking revelations on what led to the death of the renowned musician DJ Sumbody.

On Tuesday, he appeared before the Ad hoc committee based on the multiple allegations he made earlier this year, which involved him accusing statesmen and high-ranking police officials like Police Minister Senzo Mchunu of having ties to criminal gangs.

During the commencement of the proceedings on Wednesday, 8th October, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Julius Malema questioned Lt Gen Nhlanhla on the reason why someone like Katiso Molefe was arrested for the murder of DJ Sumbody and not for being the mastermind behind the alleged drug cartel.

The lieutenant went on to explain that the motive of the murder was, in fact, drug-related. He added that to prevent criminals from defeating the ends of justice, they often charge them with a lesser sentence before introducing more serious ones.

He explained that drugs were the motive for DJ Sumbody’s murder.

“The picture you are going to see when the matter gets to court is that this one thought he was clever by stealing this one’s drugs, and he started selling them, and this one then killed him. So, not to say the victim is a clean man on drugs. He died because of something that he did wrong to this one,” he explained.

He continued, “So yes, we’re not talking about the drugs in the arrest of Molefe, but drugs are part of the problem that leads to the murder. The charge is murder, but the reason is the drug that comes as a result.”
