You need to know your partner – their differences; flaws and strengths; likes and dislikes, and accept them because in doing so you are learning to be comfortable with each other and creating a bond coated with a layer of solid trust and loyalty.

7 ways to make your partner your best friend

  • Communication and understanding are the key pillars in any relationship, because if a relationship lacks any of the two, it is bound to fail.
  • Trust each other; be able to talk about anything and everything. You should be able to communicate with your partner without feeling ashamed that they will judge you.
  • You and your partner are expected to support and help each other build your confidence and self-esteem, not break each other down with judgement and negativity, though honesty is key.
  • You must not sugar-coat anything, but say it with compassion – the way you convey a certain message to someone is important, it determines the manner in which they receive the message’s context.
  • Do not be too serious in a relationship; loosen up and don’t take everything to heart.
  • Be comfortable with your body around your partner; don’t be afraid of what they might think of you afterwards. It’s a known saying that you have to love someone for who they are, with their flaws and imperfections.
  • It is not necessary for the both of you to have the same friends, but if that makes you happy and comfortable then do it with confidence.
