In the book, Zero-Waste Home, Bea Johnson reveals that it is important to teach kids to be environmentally conscious so that they can have a happy and healthy life.

Eco- conscious means being aware of how your actions can impact the environment and working on how to improve them. In this article we will navigate how to raise eco-conscious kids as shared by the above publication.

Kids see their parents as their number one idol, this gives a parent an opportunity to lead by example . You must show your kids that you care about the environment, you can do this by recycling and saving water.  Parents can also talk to their kids about the importance of having an eco-friendly environment, adds Zero-Waste Home.

The above mentioned source advises that parents should also try and involve kids in environmental activities, such as gardening and volunteering to clean up the street or local park. Raising eco-conscious kids does not only end with securing a better future for the planet, it also helps with the development of important values.

Not being eco-friendly causes many problems such as Climate change that causes extreme weather events where we se more of floods, droughts and hurricanes. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) reveals that these weather events lead to the rise of the sea level causing floods in  communities close to the sea as it was seen in Cape town, Durban and Port Elizabeth in September 2023, experts share.  Pollution that damages air, water and soil is also one of the biggest problems.

Raising eco-friendly can also help them become responsible, creative and contribute to problem solving.
