Too lazy to bake? Try these air fryer scones

by Staff Bona
SCONE: PEXELS

Everyone loves the magic of an air fryer for creating mouth-watering gourmet meals, but did you know it can also whip up your favourite brekkies, snacks and desserts?

Our air fryer scones recipe is the perfect way to save time while still delivering a delicious treat. These scones are ideal for tea time or late breakfast, letting you enjoy more moments with your loved ones over a sweet bite.

Taste.com’s Food Director, Amira Georgy suggests using an air fryer to make scones since it eliminates the need for preheating and results in evenly cooked golden scones with ideal fluffiness.

Check this recipe out:

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups of cake flour.
  • 1 Tbsp of baking powder.
  • 1/4 tsp of salt.
  • 1/3 cup of sugar.
  • 1/2 cup plain yoghurt.
  • 25 grams of butter.
  • 1 tsp of vanilla essence.
  • 1 egg.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. In a bowl, sift the flour, salt and baking powder. Rub the chilled butter into the flour mix with your fingertips until it resembles fine bread crumbs.

2. In a separate bowl, mix all the wet ingredients and add sugar.

3. Mix the wet ingredients with the dry and gently mix (trying not to overmix).

4. On a board or your bench lightly mould the dough into a rectangle (again, trying not to overmix) and cut into 6 squares or, using a round cutter, into circles.

5. Brush with egg wash and lay on the air fryer tray.

6. Bake for 14 minutes at 160 degrees before cooling slightly.
