Tips to passing your drivers licence in SA

by Sergio Miller

Obtaining one’s driver’s licence is considered to be one of the most rewarding feelings. Not only does this put you in the position to get from point A to point B, but with it comes a certain level of independence.

For those who are still young and in their 20s, 30s or 40s, this can also be a personal investment, as many careers require applicants to have their licence.

However, the process of getting it might be slightly difficult. This is due to the overwhelming emotions that come with passing out. Some people may find themselves extremely anxious. While having a bit of nerves is a good thing, too much of it could cost you in the test.

To make this process an easy transition, we have a few tips to help you prepare for the day of your test:

What to expect

The test consists of three components, a vehicle inspection, yard test (parking), and road test (driving).

It is therefore essential that you know your K53 rules as well as how all the components of the car work together.

The examiner might ask you to indicate left and right, or put on your wipers which means that you should know your vehicle extremely well from the inside out.

Invest in a driving school

Joining a driving school is one of the best investments for those looking to pass their driver’s licence.

Driving School Near Me – a website specializing in assisting first time drivers find the correct driving school – believes that one should receive regular lessons to achieve steady progress.

“The progress during your lessons will boost your confidence in your driving ability. Aim for two hours of lessons per week, together with your steady learning and growing confidence your ability to remember the skills and training which you have learned will increase,” adds the above-mentioned source.

Familiarise yourself with the route

Becoming familiar with the route that you will drive on the day of your test is one of the best things you can do for yourself.

“There are three different road test routes for the K53 Driving test, do yourself a favour and practice all three at least once,” recommends Driving-school near me.

Doing this will both settle your nerves and put your mind at ease as you would know what to expect along the road.

Practice continuously

Important that you practice continuously, so take every opportunity to drive. Whether it is taking your family to the grocery store or dropping something off at someone’s house this will strengthen your driving and boost your confidence.

Remain calm

It is important that you remain calm on the day of your test, this would be beneficial and prevent you from making unnecessary hasty decisions because of overwhelmed emotions.

Make sure that you are well familiar with all of the K53 vehicle inspections, know your road signs as well as road rules and trust yourself.

Getting a good nights rest is highly recommended.
