If you are someone who loves flowers and yearns to one day have a garden filled with flowers but find it a challenge to keep them alive and prevent them from dying, then these tips are for you.

Here are some tips brought to you by The Spruce and Balcony Garden that will help you sustain your flowers and keep them blooming for longer.

Make sure they get sunlight

According to The Spruce- website that offers practical, real-life tips and inspiration to help you make your best home – sunlight is essential for the growth and blooming of flowers. If the flowers are different then the amount of sunlight they need will differ. The source also mentions a flower needs at least 6 hours of sunlight each day because little sunlight will result to the flowers not blooming.

Practice pruning

Pruning is cutting back the stems and branches of the flower which promotes growth and keeps the flower tidy. The above-mentioned source adds that the best time to prune is late in winter or early spring before new growth.

Use a fertilizer

Fertilizers provide nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium that assist flowers to grow and bloom. Balcony Garden- website that serves the best and informative gardening ideas, creative DIY’s and limited space gardening tips and tricks– says that a balanced fertilizer has the equal amount of the nutrients, but considering the type of flower you are growing is also convenient.

Enough water

The above-mentioned sources says that water is important for the health and blooming of flowers, however, you must make sure that you get the watering right. When the soil is too dry, flowers will wilt and the roots might die, while when the water is too much they might die too. The best way to water plants it is to give them a deep watering so that they reach the roots, added The Spruce.
