Tighten your waist with these exercises

Do you want to feel more toned and have your waist tightened? By focusing on your obliques and core, these exercises can help you develop a stronger, tighter waist.

You may incorporate these exercises into your routine and begin to notice results regardless of your level of fitness experience.

According to the Health publication, “Waist-tightening exercises strengthen your core muscles—which include your obliques and abdominal muscles. Exercises to try include jack knives and v-ups or knee hugs. The benefits of a waist workout include balance and stability and low back injury prevention.”

The above publication also mentions that a tight waist is a result of more than just core exercises; diet is also important. Try including more of the following items in your diet to aid with muscle growth in general:

  • Good fats
  • Complex carbs, such as those found in rice, lentils, and starchy vegetable
  • Vegetables and fruits

According to the health-focused publication Healthline, “While exercises can tone and firm the muscles underneath your belly fat, you won’t see results at your waistline without overall weight loss that affects your whole body. A combination of healthy living, eating, and exercise will give you the best results.”

Here are a few exercises to try out:

Today suggests trying out the reverse lunge with knee drive which increases blood flow while working the lower body and core muscles. Compared to reverse lunges alone, the exercise’s intensity leads to a greater caloric expenditure.

The above website also claims, “The alternating toe touch hits every core muscle. Begin by lying down flat on your back. Keeping your legs straight, raise them to about a 45-degree angle from the floor.”

Health also recommends a core workout that targets the muscles in your abdomen, specifically the obliques. There are six distinct exercises in the workout:

  • Twisted side plank
  • Exercise for the heel grabber waist
  • Jackknife knee hugs and V-ups
  • Triangle crunch core exercise
  • Crunch on a bicycle
