This is how you can make your own dust mite disinfector

Dust mites are part of our lives no matter what. But just because they exist in our lives does not necessarily mean that they belong there.

These creatures thrive in everyday objects such as pillows, blankets, mattresses, carpets and even the little stuffed toys your child plays with. In addition, they enjoy areas exposed to moisture and feed off organic matter such as flakes of skin.

Despite being among the world’s tiniest microscopic creatures, failure to remove them can cause serious allergies and medical conditions.

“A mild case of dust mite allergy may cause an occasional runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. In severe cases, the condition may be ongoing (chronic), resulting in persistent sneezing, cough, congestion, facial pressure, an eczema flare-up or severe asthma attack,” explains medical publication Mayo Clinic.

This is why it is essential to find effective ways of removing these harmful pests to ensure that these symptoms are prevented.

Here are ways in which you can safely and effectively get rid of dust mites in your home as recommended by Tips Bulletin.

How to create a perfect dust mite spray:

  • Gather a number of essential oils, such as eucalyptus, clove, lavender, peppermint, or tea tree oil.
  • Mix a few drops of these oils with water in a spray bottle.
  • Thoroughly shake the mixture before use to ensure the oils are well dispersed.
  • Lightly spray the solution over my bed, pillows, and furniture.
  • Allow everything to air dry, avoiding any moisture that could promote mite proliferation.
