The Cavern Resort & Spa, named after the infamous Cannibal Cavern, is nestled in the foothills of the Northern Drakensberg Nature Reserve adjacent to the Maluti-Drakensberg World Heritage Site. A place of captivating beauty, it is surrounded by majestic mountains, lush indigenous forests and clear mountain streams. It is midway between Joburg and Durban – a beautiful country drive.

The Cavern is a tucked-away romantic escape for couples, a retreat for quiet and solitude, and a child-friendly resort with fun activities. There are a variety of activities and attractions. Each day there are guided morning hikes and horse rides. A swimming pool, tennis courts, 80km of MTB trails and dams for trout fishing extends the offering.

The Forest Retreat Spa is a tranquil escape for a restorative treatment. It’s the ideal spot to unwind and be rejuvenated in peaceful surroundings with the Puterill’s Spruit cascading below. Treatments include massages, luxury facials and a host of body grooming options and packages.

The resort has standard and superior accommodation. Rooms are set in landscaped gardens where a mix of vibrant indigenous plants attracts hundreds of birds and the evenings are filled with the sounds of crickets, frogs and other friendly creatures. Superior rooms and suites, overlook the indigenous Fern Forest. Each unit has its own private patio where you can relax in the sun, listen to the forest streams and unwind in the peace of untouched mountain wilderness.
