The best way to care for your new tattoo

Although getting a new tattoo is exciting, the real magic is in how you take care of it. Your tattoo will remain beautiful if you take care of it like you would a valuable plant.

Proper upkeep is essential to keep your tattoo looking as good as the day you had it done and for it to remain perfectly healed, vibrant, and crisp.

Queen of Steel places emphasis on the importance of taking care of your fresh tattoo by stating that, to avoid issues and promote appropriate healing, tattoo aftercare is essential, and to keep bacteria out and stop them from rubbing against clothing, the tattoo region must be covered with plastic wrap or a bandage. To absorb any liquid or extra ink, the dressing should be left on for as long as the artist advises.

The above proudly female-owned and all-inclusive piercing and tattoo Studio advises individuals to wear clean, soft clothes during the first two weeks of tattoo healing, stay away from abrasive materials, take only a shower, avoid bathing or soaking for two weeks, stay out of the pool or sauna, and direct sunlight for at least six weeks. Wash your hands before handling your tattoo, stay away from jewellery or abrasive items, and apply sunscreen after six weeks. Keep pets and animals away from your tattoo, and stay away from contact sports and exercises that could cause skin stretching.

The health publication Healthline suggests using a mild, fragrance-free soap or a specially made tattoo cleanser to clean a tattoo. Some artists suggest the Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar or Dr. Bronner’s 18-in-1 Hemp Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Soap. After the first day, apply either Dr. Bronner’s Unscented Organic Magic Balm or Aquaphor Healing Ointment. After the first week, switch to lotion, making sure it has no chemicals or smells. Steer clear of 100% petroleum products while the healing process is underway.
