Signs your relationship is getting serious

Being in love with someone is a beautiful feeling, it is even more beautiful when the love is reciprocated.

While some might make the relationship serious from the onset, some use the beginning stage as a time to get to know the other partner better. This is a time when some might gauge to see if there are any possibilities of the relationship getting to a serious stage.

While the other partner may not come forward and say that the relationship is now serious, there are signs you may look out for that could give you a clear indication of when your relationship has reached the serious stage.

You attend family functions together – being invited to your partner’s family function is a big deal, shares latex condom manufacturing company Durex. This is a big sign that the relationship can now be known by family members as the partner might see it as serious.

You’ve said I love you- the words I love you are often said to show that you are cared for, important and valued.  They are also a sign that the partner sees the relationship as something serious. “Whether it’s uttered after a few months or after 5 dates, saying I love you shows that you two view the relationship as a partnership,” adds the above-mentioned information source.

You make time for each other- making time for one another means you value each other and may be serious about the relationship. Juggling life’s busy schedule can be hectic, when a partner makes sure to spare time for the relationship it often means they see it as valuable, so take that seriously.

You’ve moved in with each other- deciding to move in together means you both see the need to spend more time together. This is a good sign that the relationship has reached a serious stage, adds Durex. It is one thing to visit each other often, but moving in together takes it a step further.

You share financial plans- when you start sharing joint financial plans that symbolises planning a future that involves the two of you. “Whether it’s opening a joint bank account, planning a vacation, or discussing long-term investments like buying a home, shared financial planning is a strong sign of a serious relationship,” adds marriage resource information centre Marriage.
